changing recess
Place
A roofed recess by an inlet on the high road, far above the barred shore stair, where the folio’s road goes under. Wooden covers shelter two collar wraps under a carved neck-banded figure, beside a bench and a door to a raised sleeping floor. A fixed line runs down beneath its flooded lintel, and a second recess opens onto the far stair.
Also appears in Chapter 4, A Road for Going Under.
