Vic's own modern reproduction of a blade in the Arsenal's collection, a hundred and twenty centimetres long, kept in a wool bag after six years of practice on straw mats and water bottles. It took first blood against a Rook-Hound, rolling the edge into a bright wave a third of the way down from the point where it struck skull.

- A modern reproduction, a hundred and twenty centimetres long and a fraction under a kilo and a half, kept at the Arsenal in a wool bag; six years of monthly cutting practice on straw mats and water bottles, the grip rewrapped twice.
- Condition
- First blood against a Rook-Hound: the edge rolled into a bright wave a third of the way down from the point where it met skull. The Assay still calls it sharp.

Chapter 4Room for the Living
- Condition
- The point struck a steel gate upright at the fishmarket and a sliver folded over sideways; a small hollow of missing metal sits behind the rolled edge. Vic files the burr and the sliver away on the cloakroom counter, without restoring the lost steel. It will still thrust; he would not choose that part of the edge for a cut.
