- At 23:41 the grid fails across the city; phones keep their torches but lose all signal. From the workshop window: stopped headlights on the shore road, one camping lantern in an upstairs window, a red smear of fire toward the harbour, and more stars than Vic knew there were.
Chapter 2The Shore Road
- Description
- The Arsenal stands above the shore road and the quay; the ferry terminal and the flats behind it lie on the east side across the harbour, with the bridge to the hospital blocked by a lorry. The fishmarket sits where the shore road bends inland.
